Australias ultimate cycling challenge, Sea 2 Summit,
raising vital funds for Redkite
Some of Australias toughest riders will be taking part in the ultimate cycling event, the
Sea 2 Summit Challenge 2010, to help Redkite support children and young people with
cancer and their families.
Covering 248km and climbing 5500 metres, from sea level at Merimbulas to the highest
point in Australia, Mt Kosciuszko, the Sea 2 Summit challenge on Saturday 20 March,
2010 will be no easy feat. Put into perspective, this cycling event is tougher than many
mountain stages of the Tour de France.
Starting in 2006, the event has raised almost $150,000 for Redkite to provide families
experiencing childhood cancer with real and practical emotional, financial and
educational support - at a time when they need it most.
Riders are drawn to the event as not everyone will make it to the top - training,
mental toughness and the elements play a huge part of the challenge, explains
Damian Heman, Sea 2 Summit Challenge Founder.
Its a privilege to be able to provide people with the opportunity to take part in a life
enhancing event which at the same time provides support to families in real need.
Tim Rogers, Redkites General Manager for Services, will be riding in this event for the
second time.
The Sea 2 Summit Challenge is a tough ride but all of the riders know that it is
nothing compared to what families dealing with childhood cancer go through, says
Tim.
The Sea 2 Summit Challenge gives ordinary people the opportunity to achieve
extraordinary things whilst raising much needed funds for Redkite.
The event has received invaluable support from numerous corporate and personal
sponsors including Quattro Innovation Group, Carrington, Body Torque, Verofit,
Cycling Australia, and NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (Kosciuszko).
