Burswood Park Wednesday 28 October 2009

It’s that time of year again when the Seniors Recreation Council of WA

presents its annual Have-a-Go Day 2009. This year’s event is on Wednesday

28 October at Burswood Park, along Great Eastern Highway, between

8.30am and 3pm.

Have-a-Go Day is a free event that allows seniors (Over 45’s) to try a range of

sporting and recreation activities and hopefully go on to join a sport or

recreation club. It also provides a large range of displays that present

information on a wide range of topics.

Last year, in excess of 12,000 people attended the event, and this year is

expected to be bigger and better with 200 sites.

A thrilling line-up of activities includes a climbing wall, pole walking, tennis, tai

chi and archery. Participants can also try their hand at dry casting, golf,

canoeing and a Nintendo Wii Fit simulated exercise.

Floral & travel displays will also be present and the North Coast Marine

Modellers and Australian Model Ship Society will have a model ships on

display and on the lake.

The official opening will be conducted by the Minister for Seniors Hon Robyn

McSweeney. The opening will begin at 9.25am and include the launch of the

Living Histories CD.

Channel 7 personalities such as Monica Kos, Sally Bowrey, Tina Altieri,

Emmy Kubanski, Ric Ardon, Basil Zempalis and Fat Cat’s mum will be in

attendance throughout the day and Curtin Radio 100.1FM will be doing an on-

site broadcast all day.

Special services on offer throughout the day include free tea, coffee and water

from the hospitality tent sponsored by Have a Go News, eye sight testing by

the Lions Eye Institute, hearing test by the Lions Hearing Institute and the

Royal Life Saving Society will be providing three first aid sites.
