RARE BRADMAN BAT FROM 1930 UK TOUR FOR SALE

A bat owned by Sir Donald Bradman created history when it sold last September for $145,000.  Another

Bradman bat from the same 1930 UK tour will be sold in February with a more modest pre-sale estimate of

$40,000 - $50,000.

The auctioneer of both bats, Charles Leski, said the release of any Bradman memorabilia usually heralds

frenzied interest from cricket ‘tragics’ and savvy investors, proving the resilience and marketability of

Australia’s favourite sporting son.

The full size “Sykes - Don Bradman" Cricket Bat is signed on the reverse "Don Bradman/ Private", and on

the front with a range of signatures

including

Woodfull, Richardson, Bradman, Kippax, Grimmett, Wall,

McCabe, Walker, A'Beckett, Oldfield, Jackson, and Ponsford, together with England’s 3rd Test team

including Chapman, Hobbs, Sutcliffe, Tate, Hammond, Leyland, Larwood, Duckworth and Hendren.

Bradman encouraged opposing was well as Australian teams to sign his bat at the end of the match.  This

particular bat also has signatures from the West Indies Australian Tour of 1930-31.

Lot 66 will be offered for sale by Leski Auctions in Melbourne on Wednesday, February 11th at 5.30pm.

“Overseas interest in Bradman memorabilia has grown to the point where we field queries from investors

before we’ve publicised lots in our possession,” says Charles Leski.  “We see this as evidence that targeted

memorabilia is becoming the investment vehicle of choice for an increasing number of people.”
