V8 SUPERCAR DRIVERS MARK ONE MONTH OUT FROM THE SYDNEY TELSTRA 500
BY JET SKIING AROUND A FLOATING V8 SUPERCAR OFF BONDI BEACH
Bondi Beach locals were treated to a rare site today courtesy of V8 Supercars Australia as James Courtneys
Jim Beam Racing car was floated down the Harbour and came to rest out the back of Bondis infamous surf.
Marking one month out from the second ever Sydney Telstra 500, which is held at Sydney Olympic Park from 3-
5 December 2010, drivers James Courtney,
Alex Davison and Jonathon Webb came to Sydney in true V8
Supercars rock and race style on the back of jet skis and to the riffs of Guns N Roses!
James Courtney, Jim Beam Racing and winner of the inaugural Sydney Telstra 500 said,
We regularly use jet skis as part of our fitness regime to improve our instincts and reaction timings so we
thought wed come to Sydney to show off some of our tricks to get everyone geed up before the upcoming race.
Courtney continued, The Sydney Telstra 500 is only one month away now and is also the Championship
Series grand final so I cant wait to come back to Sydney Olympic Park to drive the challenging street circuit
designed by our very own Mark Skaife and see if I cant get another win out of the track.
Joining them was Current World Champion Ironman Shannon Eckstein representing the national beneficiary of
the 2010 V8 Supercar Championship Series, Surf Life Saving.
Surf Life Saving Australias CEO Brett Williamson OAM said,
Surf Life Saving is honoured to be recognised as the official charity of Sydney Telstra 500 for the second year
running.
This event last year helped us raise vital funds for our lifesaving services and we hope everyone who attends
this exciting sporting event will make a gold coin donation to
our surf lifesavers and pick up their very own
limited edition Telstra 500 cap, Williamson said.
