NAVY GEORGE BASS SURFBOAT MARATHON UPDATE

DAY THREE – TUROSS TO NAROOMA – 22 KMS

The third day of the Navy sponsored 2010 George Bass Surfboat Marathon saw Vikings

rower Luke Price and Broulee rower Rhys Harris row the combined Bermagui ladies and

veterans boat through the violent surf after the Bermagui sweep was injured when

knocked overboard.

Luke then swept for the Anglesea Veterans after their sweep withdrew from the race with

a back injury.

The day also saw Broulee’s support boat driver undergo surgery after he broke his ankle

and three toes yesterday and Samantha Derrick, rowing for Woolamai, fracture her arm.

After three days each and every rower fully comprehends just how tough the George

Bass Marathon is.

In the Open Men division, the Canberra Vikings made it three in a row over Bulli by 90

seconds.

In the Open Women division, Woolamai defeated Canberra/ Caloundra by just two

seconds.
