Once youve met the Brit, visit the Australian Sports Commissions new online
talent identification tool (eTID).
This revolutionary system is accessible to anyone aged 12-29 and provides
pathways into elite sport, which can include scholarships at the Australian
Institute of Sport.
It is vital for Australia to be smart in talent identification and development in
order to maintain our competitive edge on the international stage.
Approximately 10 per cent of any countrys population has sporting talent
based on this, Australias talent pool sits at around 280,000 people, whilst
sporting super powers such as America and China have talent pools in excess
of 4 million and 22 million respectively.
These basic facts mean Australia need to be innovative in our approach and
search far and wide for our next top sportspeople if we are to remain one of
the top sporting nations of the world.
