Giveaway Mars Bars Support Tasmania’s Bid
Thousands of Mars “Believe” bars and hand held signs supporting Tasmania’s bid for
an AFL license will be given away to football fans on Sunday at the MCG and Telstra
Dome.
Fans at the Melbourne-Richmond and Essendon-St.Kilda games will be able to
munch on the chocolate bars and wave their signs to show their support for Tasmania.
More than 1.5 million Mars “Believe” bars have been distributed to retailers
throughout Australia as part of Mars $4 million commitment to the Tasmania bid.
As well the bid has announced its first major Tasmanian sponsor.
MyState Financial will commit $300,000 over three years – when Tasmania wins a
licence from the AFL
MyState is the largest Tasmanian owned financial institution and they will distribute
information on the bid to its 140,00 members across the state.
The sponsorship further supports Tasmania’s bid, which has already been highlighted
by recent research in which more than 80 per cent of people Australia wide supported
a Tasmanian team in the AFL
At the same time 25 per cent of Tasmanians – more than 100,000 people - said they
would consider joining a future Tasmanian AFL club as members.
