Marking the seventh anniversary this week of the Bali Bombing, over 200 longboard riders from all over Australia will be at Bondi this Sunday for the annual Chloe Byron Memorial Longboard Championship.
Australian surfing legend Bob McTavish will mark his 45th year in the sport by presenting the championship trophies which remembers the over 400 people killed or injured in the 2002 Bali Bombing including Bondi's Chloe Byron who was 15 when she died in the explosions.
Hosted by Australian Idol's Andrew G and supported by leading surf companies, the Chloe Byron Championship has become Bondi's biggest surf-based community event with organisers expecting over 1,000 people to be involved in a day of surf, music, food, celebrity spotting and really bad dancing before each heat.
All proceeds going to the Homicide Victims Support Group, a charity nominated by Chloe's father, Dave Byron.
The Bondi Longboard Club is a non-profit, locally-based sports club. A DVD of the contest will be available after the event.
