Big day at Roland Garros for AIS: Larkham
AIS Tennis Head Coach Brent Larkham is available for comment on the French
Open victories by AIS players Olivia Rogowska and Jarmila Groth overnight.
Both had straight-sets wins in their first round matches, with 17-year-old Rogowska
defeating Russian world No.47 Maria Kirilenko 6-4 6-4 and Groth beating French
wildcard Kinnie Laisne 6-4 6-3.
Since the AIS tennis program relocated to Canberra, clay courts modelled on the
Roland Garros surface played a role in the French Open preparation.
Time on clay courts at the AIS training facilities in northern Italy also helped ready for
the grand slam.
