The Australian Surf Rowers League Series Finals – Navy Australian

Open Titles

UPDATE - DAY TWO - Saturday 6 February

Wild and dangerous surf conditions continued on the Wollongong coast today forcing organisers

of the Navy ASRL National Championships to shift the event location.

Competition started late at Sharky’s Beach, near Bulli, north of Wollongong.

Surf rowers faced an unpredictable sea with an incoming tide bringing with it a shore break and

stiff offshore breezes.

While most crews were able to handle the overcast and raining conditions, the shifting surf still

brought some to grief.

Bert Hunt, ASRL President, said “The event will continue tomorrow whatever the weather and

may return to City Beach with a NE change forecast tonight.”

Racing begins at 8am tomorrow.  All results will be available on the ASRL website
