Australian Surf Rowers League Series Finals – Navy Australian Open Titles

Starts Friday February 5 2010

 

Over 350 surf boat crews from across Australia will come together this weekend for Navy Australian Open Surf

Rowers League National Titles.

 

With the 2010 season of the competition drawing to a close, teams from across Australia will meet at City Beach

in Wollongong on the weekend of February 5-7 to battle it out for the Navy Australian Open Surf Boat Titles.

The weekends schedule includes: 

 

Friday February 5th 2010 (Northern Arena)

Navy Australian Masters – start 11am – finals around 4pm.

Navy Interstate Teams Challenge (all states) 5pm start; 7pm presentations on beach.

 

Saturday February 6th 2010 (Northern & Southern Arena)

Heats & eliminations start 8.00am finish 4pm.

Navy Australia Open (Block Racing – morning session) – Reserve Grade/U23 men/women.

Navy Australia Open (Block Racing – afternoon session) – Open Men/Open Women/ Reserve Grade/Under 19

Men.

 

Sunday February 7th 2010 (Northern Arena)

Quarter finals/semi finals/finals start 8.00AM; finish 1.00PM followed by Navy Medal presentations 

Navy Australian Open Surf Boat Championships – (Reserve Grade/U23 men/women /U19 Men/Open

Women/Men.

The Australian Surf Rowers League was born in New South Wales in 1992 as the International League of 

Australian Surfboat Rowers Inc. (ILOR) and currently has over 3,000 members from over 260 clubs making up over

450 crews.

 

The 2009-10 Australian Surf Rowers League Series consists of 28 races across every state and Territory of Australia

from October 2009 to February 2010 and are held on some of the country’s premier beaches.

 

As in surf rowing, teamwork is very important to how the Navy operates, along with fitness. This alliance aims to

increase public understanding of Navy and the importance of its values to each member – ‘the team works.
