Australian International 3-Day Event lures top riders

Some of horse riding’s biggest stars have confirmed they will take part in

this year’s Australian International 3-Day Event from November 14 to 16,

being launched at Rymill Park in Adelaide today (Monday 27 October)

at 2pm.

Olympic gold medallists Wendy Schaeffer and Stuart Tinney will compete

while the entire Australian silver medal eventing team from the Beijing

Olympics will attend with two of the team’s stars, Shane Rose and local

rider Megan Jones, competing.

The rest of the team, Lucinda and Clayton Fredricks based in London and

Sonja Johnson from Western Australia, will host course walks,

add to the

informative on course commentary and be available for autograph and

photograph opportunities.

Nearly 80 riders are attending the event, with a larger Four Star field

(Olympic standard riders) than in 2006.

“To have the entire Beijing Olympic silver medal winning team in Adelaide is a real coup,” Event

Director and Olympian Gillian Rolton says.

“Not only will event goers have the chance to see world-class riding, but they can also enjoy a full

program of fun events including a Dancing with the Stars Ladies Luncheon and the Grape and Gourmet

Gallop featuring the best of South Australia’s food and wine.

“There’s even a chance for school children, pony club members and fitness fanatics of all ages to run

the cross country course in the Mutual Community Fun Run, meeting horse riding and other sporting

legends along the way.

“This is the most important event on the Southern Hemisphere’s equestrian calendar combining

dressage, cross country and show jumping and we’re expecting a huge turnout of spectators cheering

on some of the world’s best riders.”

Spectacular water jumps, a challenging cross country course and tests of elegance and precision in the

dressage arena are features of the Adelaide event, one of only six four-star events in the world.

The event also includes the National Pony Club Mounted Games Championships with more than 80

riders from Australia and New Zealand competing while

this year’s unique Australian International

parkland course has been designed by South Australian Wayne Copping, an FEI International Course

Designer since 1993.

Tickets for the Australian International 3-Day Event range from $20 for an adult one-day pass to $55 for

an adult three-day pass. Grandstand tickets start at $45 for adults. For details visit
