Australian International 3-Day Event lures top riders
Some of horse ridings biggest stars have confirmed they will take part in
this years Australian International 3-Day Event from November 14 to 16,
being launched at Rymill Park in Adelaide today (Monday 27 October)
at 2pm.
Olympic gold medallists Wendy Schaeffer and Stuart Tinney will compete
while the entire Australian silver medal eventing team from the Beijing
Olympics will attend with two of the teams stars, Shane Rose and local
rider Megan Jones, competing.
The rest of the team, Lucinda and Clayton Fredricks based in London and
Sonja Johnson from Western Australia, will host course walks,
add to the
informative on course commentary and be available for autograph and
photograph opportunities.
Nearly 80 riders are attending the event, with a larger Four Star field
(Olympic standard riders) than in 2006.
To have the entire Beijing Olympic silver medal winning team in Adelaide is a real coup, Event
Director and Olympian Gillian Rolton says.
Not only will event goers have the chance to see world-class riding, but they can also enjoy a full
program of fun events including a Dancing with the Stars Ladies Luncheon and the Grape and Gourmet
Gallop featuring the best of South Australias food and wine.
Theres even a chance for school children, pony club members and fitness fanatics of all ages to run
the cross country course in the Mutual Community Fun Run, meeting horse riding and other sporting
legends along the way.
This is the most important event on the Southern Hemispheres equestrian calendar combining
dressage, cross country and show jumping and were expecting a huge turnout of spectators cheering
on some of the worlds best riders.
Spectacular water jumps, a challenging cross country course and tests of elegance and precision in the
dressage arena are features of the Adelaide event, one of only six four-star events in the world.
The event also includes the National Pony Club Mounted Games Championships with more than 80
riders from Australia and New Zealand competing while
this years unique Australian International
parkland course has been designed by South Australian Wayne Copping, an FEI International Course
Designer since 1993.
Tickets for the Australian International 3-Day Event range from $20 for an adult one-day pass to $55 for
