20,000 athletes find their sport life balance
Dual Olympic medallist Jared Tallent will join fellow Australian Institute of Sport
athletes and Australian Sports Commission staff to celebrate the National Athlete
Career and Education (ACE) programs 15-year milestone this Thursday, 24
September.
Tallent has received ACE support during his time as an elite race walker while
studying a Bachelor of Business Studies in financial planning.
He strode into history at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games where he completed a rare
feat by winning medals in both the 50km (silver) and 20km (bronze) events.
Over 20,000 elite athletes across Australia have been preparing for life after sport
through the ACE program, which helps athletes manage their education, work and
sports performance.
More than 3000 elite athletes are eligible to access ACE each year, taking advantage
of the national network and highly qualified staff located in every state and territory.
The National ACE program is managed by the Australian Sports Commission and is
jointly funded with state and territory governments, through the AIS and state institutes
and academies of sport.
