A KODAK WALK IN THE PARK
AT ALBERT PARK
ON 19 DECEMBER 2009
GOLFS EXTREME MAKEOVER INTERNATIONAL ACTION SPORTS AND MUSIC FESTIVAL
Peter Wilson, Golf professional and one of the organisers of A Kodak Walk In The Park to be held
at Albert Park Golf Course on December 19 is a man of many talents.
As well as promoting this spectacular world class sporting event and rock concert, hes just finished
third in the $US500,000 Midea China Classic at Royal Orchard Golf Club, just outside Hong Kong.
Wilson, 31, from Lang Lang in Victoria, stormed home with a final round 64 seven under to share
third place in the event which is part of the new One-Asia Tour.
I was really rapt with my finish. Its a great start for me on the tour, Wilson said from Perth where he
is playing the WA Open at Royal Cottesloe Golf Club.
He will play in Perth for two weeks before coming back to Melbourne to prepare for the Australian
Masters featuring Tiger Woods at Kingston Heath from November 12-15.
Wilson is no stranger to big time golf and finished 43rd on the Australasian money list last year. One of
last seasons highlights was leading the 2008 Australian PGA at Coolum on the Sunshine Coast after
shooting a round of 67.
Away from the golf course, Peter is busy planning A Kodak Walk in the Park sport and music festival
at Albert Park on December 19.
A Kodak Walk in the Park will pack the extreme sports of skateboarding and BMX jumping and a
$50,000 first place prize, a record for a nine hole golf shootout featuring Australias top men and
women playing against each other for the first time into one thrilling, action-packed days
entertainment.

Wilson, believes A Kodak Walk in the Park has something to offer every family member.
We think this will be a great way for families to catch up the week before Christmas and at the same
time enjoy world class sport and entertainment, he said.
He said four-day golf tournaments can become dull and boring for young spectators and has
devised an exciting nine-hole shoot-out format for A Walk in the Park.
Australias top mens and womens players will be pitted against each other in a battle for a $50,000
first place winners cheque believed to a record one-day tournament prize in Australia. Women
confirmed in the field include:

I have modelled the event on the success of 20-20 cricket. A faster-paced golf tournament will be
easier to watch and you will have a winner after three hours instead of four days, he said.
As well as golf, A Kodak Walk in the Park will feature a World Cup Skateboarding event for the 2009
season, with the world-renowned skaters competing including:
Trevor Ward
Renton Millar
Juergen Horrwarth
Alex Perelson
Adam Taylor
Andy McDonald

BMX riders will give a dirt jumping exhibition which will require organisers to truck 600 tonnes of river
dirt to the site to create a BMX dirt jumping course alongside the first tee. Professional BMX riders
confirmed to compete are:
Mike Bazyard
Ryan Guettler
Brendan Jones
Invitations have been also been sent to Cameron White, Luke Parslow and Steve McCann.
Wilson is also a keen surfer and said his inspiration for A Kodak Walk in the Park stemmed from his
desire to bring back the youth aspect to not only golf but all sports.
Being a professional golfer for 10 years I have seen the decline in corporate support and public
interest in my chosen profession, he said.
Something needed to be done. At first people think the surf, music culture is not a good fit for golf.
However, more than 20 per cent of professional golfers surf and most of us listen to music when we
practise. We need to change the perception that golf professionals are old and boring. Nothing could
be further from the truth.
Our best young golfers and skaters/surfers are bigger names overseas than at home. I hope A
Kodak Walk in the Park is the start of more opportunities being given to these young sportsmen and
women in Australia so they do not have to travel overseas to gain recognition.
