New rock fishing safety program to be launched on Saturday

What: Launch of national rock fishing safety program by Hon Peter Garrett MP, Member for Kingsford-Smith
When: Saturday 7 November @ 10.20am for 10.30am start
Where: Surf Life Saving Australia Level 1, 1 Notts Avenue (Icebergs building) Bondi Beach
Note: 'Sculptures by the Sea' means some parking restrictions are in force get here early!
Why: With new figures confirming rock fishing's reputation as one of the most dangerous pastimes in the country, Surf Life Saving (SLS) is joining forces with fishing organisations to launch a new program, including multi-lingual educational resources and additional angel rings.
Vision opps: The first of a series of workshops for rock fishers from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds will be held on the rocks at Bondi on Saturday.
Interviews with rock fisherman as well as experts from SLSA and fishing organisations.
The Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter will conduct a mock rescue (subject to air traffic approval)
